why i don't make lots of money
i absolutely know that i could not handle a leadership role in any circumstance. i was asked once if i wanted to be a principal and without even blinking, i said no. i cannot handle conflict or stress. this week has been rather stressful....behind on yearbook, missed one deadline...behind on getting restricted list published...forgot to send out reminder cards for a meeting...responsible for a faculty family dinner....have to teach a sabbath school lesson to teens and keep them interested...get the house sort of clean for the faculty family dinner...on top of the usual classes and supervison duties. so, i sort of lost my phone again...left it at home instead of bringing it with me.... caught the lid of the powder creamer on a shelf and had to clean up the counter and the floor....had a lid on a paper cup of coffee and heated it the microwave too long, it blew up and had to clean the microwave out completely....turned the oven on to heat the lasagna and the pie filling that i forgot i spilled caught on fire.... then i had a cover loosely on a container of rosemary butter i was melting for making non-garlic bread and it blew up in the microwave and i had to clean it all up. i think i'll go to bed.

i know EXACTLY how you feel. i guess like mother like daughter.
I hate weeks/days like that. I swept the garage this Sunday and the wind blew the dirt back into my face. Wasn't thinking. could hardly see that evening and this morning. Woke up with swollen eyes. I made pasties yesterday and forgot to put the salt in the dough... I blame it on the watering eyes... couldn't see. They taste sort of bland. but I will eat them anyway. Things do get better!
You would be surprised what you can do when you put your mind to it. If you don't have a desire to lead, you won't be able to. you first have to want to do it. Fortunatly, leadership can be learned, and its not just for a few chosen few.
I've alwasy had a little of an inclination towards leadership, but never had a very good chance to see how I'd do in it. that is until this year when I took on 15 people under me. with leadership, your perspective changes. things that where once ultra important become things that you can deligate to those that support you. leadership is more about oversing those under you than doing the work yourself. after all, if the only person that does what you want is yourself, then you are your own slave.
sounds funny, but some of the best leaders are those that do the least. they require maximium out of those that work for them, and oversee it to make sure those under them are successful.
if you were put in such a role, I would have full confidence in your abilities. it looks like your only hurdle is to want to do it. if you got past that, you wouldn't have any problems

mind over matter..... hmmm i know people say that a lot.. there are lots of things that it applies to. i was talking to my boss about my ear disease that i inherited from my mother. i was telling him that i had had two incidents. he said there used to be a teacher here who had it and whenever he was under stress he had an attack. so was he using the diease to escape unconciously? or did the stress trigger the response?
it seems there are a whole slew of things that go into what you can do. i thought i couldn't do the zip line but after 20 minutes of thinking i did it. i did the fall back into the arms of friends thing. but none of those are items that will cause you to lose your job or your husband if you don't want to do it.
